At FUNDA, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for every child. To achieve this, we rely on the cooperation of parents, children, and staff to foster a positive culture of behaviour. Below is our policy, outlining everyoneβs responsibilities and the procedures we follow for behaviour management.
Parent & Child Responsibility π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦
We ask parents to inform us during initial registration or verbally about any potential behavioural issues that might arise during camp.
When your child attends camp, we expect:
β
Respect for others: Treat everyone as they wish to be treated.
π« No swearing or abusive language: This will not be tolerated.
β οΈ No aggression or violence: These behaviours are unacceptable.
π Respect for personal property: Children should take care of othersβ belongings and the facilities we use.
π Listen to FUNDA Educators: Show respect to staff by following their instructions.
Peer-on-Peer Abuse
Staff Responsibility π©βπ«π¨βπ«
Our staff undergo rigorous training to uphold our standards of care, safety, and safeguarding. Here's what we expect from them:
βοΈ Treat every child fairly, recognising their unique needs.
βοΈ Create an environment that is stimulating, challenging, and fun.
βοΈ Apply clear and consistent rules with fair consequences.
π« No physical punishment is ever allowed.
π Physical intervention (e.g., holding) is only permitted to prevent immediate harm.
β No humiliation or embarrassment will be used as discipline.
π Be positive role models, demonstrating high standards of care and motivation.
We take peer-on-peer abuse very seriously and aim to handle such situations sensitively and fairly. Here's how we address concerns:
π’ Reporting
π£οΈ Children are encouraged to speak with their Group Coach if they feel they are experiencing peer-on-peer abuse.
π The Group Coach will report the matter to the Site Leader.
π Assessment
π₯ The Site Leader will discuss the matter with the child and the coach.
π If necessary, the person accused will also be spoken to, as they may have underlying issues requiring support.
π Parental Communication
π¨βπ©βπ§ Parents of both parties will be contacted to discuss findings and actions.
β Actions
π οΈ If the issue is confirmed, we will take appropriate action to resolve it.
π« In serious cases, this may involve removing the abuser from camp.
Our approach ensures all concerns are addressed with care and fairness, promoting a safe and positive environment for all children. πβ¨
Behaviour Management Procedure π οΈ
We prioritize fairness and consistency when managing behaviour issues. Here's how we handle them step by step:
π’ Early Intervention
The Group Coach will address the behaviour immediately to prevent it from escalating further.
π‘ Escalation to Camp Leader
If the issue remains unresolved, the Camp Leader will step in to manage the situation.
The child may be removed from the group but will always be kept within sight of others for safety.
π΄ Parental Involvement
If necessary, the parent or carer will be contacted to collect the child.
If collection isnβt possible, parents will be informed about the behaviour and the required actions at the earliest opportunity.
π§ Further Action
If behaviour issues persist, the Site Leader will consult the Operations Team at Head Office.
This may result in the suspension of the child from camp.
By maintaining a structured and transparent approach, we create a positive and supportive environment for all children. ππ
Why This Policy Matters π‘
By setting clear expectations and procedures, we aim to:
Ensure every child feels safe and valued. π
Provide staff with the tools to manage behaviour consistently. π οΈ
Foster a respectful, positive environment for all children. π
Thank you for your support in maintaining an enjoyable experience for everyone at FUNDA! π
