๐Ÿ“œ Statement of Intent

At FUNDA, the safety and well-being of children are our top priorities. ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ถ

We collaborate with parents and the community to provide a secure environment, ensuring every child gets the best start in life. ๐ŸŒŸ

To prevent children from leaving the premises unsupervised, we have strict security measures and procedures in place (refer to the FUNDA Health and Safety Policy). ๐Ÿšช๐Ÿ”’

In the unlikely event that a child goes missing, the following procedures will be followed:


๐Ÿ›‘ Procedure if a Child Goes Missing on Site

  1. Immediate Action:

    • The Key Person informs the Manager or person in charge.

    • The Manager assigns staff to search indoor and outdoor areas thoroughly. ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿก

  2. Attendance Check:

    • The register is reviewed to confirm if other children are accounted for. ๐Ÿ“โœ…

  3. Gather Information:

    • The Manager speaks to the Key Person to understand the situation (e.g. when and where the child was last seen). ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ๐Ÿ”Ž

  4. Vigilance:

    • Staff remain alert for any suspicious persons or behaviour around the setting. ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธโš ๏ธ

  5. Calm Environment:

    • Staff avoid causing panic and ensure that other children are safe and supervised. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

  6. Next Steps:

    • After 10 minutes of searching:

      • The Manager informs the police ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ“ž and the childโ€™s parent. ๐Ÿ“ž๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

      • The Manager contacts the Senior Manager on duty, who will travel to the venue immediately whilst coordinating with other senior leaders. ๐Ÿš—

  7. Ongoing Searches:

    • Staff continue searching while awaiting the police and the parent. ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ

    • Other staff maintain normal routines for the remaining children. ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿงฉ


๐Ÿ“ Incident Reporting

Staff will document the incident in a detailed Incident Report, including:

  • Date and time of the report. ๐Ÿ“…๐Ÿ•’

  • Names of staff and children in the group/outing. ๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿ“‹

  • Last known location of the missing child. ๐Ÿ“

  • Activities/events leading up to the incident. ๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿž๏ธ

  • Estimated time when the child went missing. โŒ›

A conclusion will be made about how the security breach occurred. ๐Ÿง


๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ The Investigation

  1. Internal Review:

    • The Site Leader, Head of Quality Assurance, and Senior Management will conduct a full investigation. ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ‘”

    • Staff present during the incident will provide written statements. โœ๏ธ

  2. Accountability:

    • If a staff member is found to be at fault, appropriate actions will be taken. โ—โš–๏ธ

  3. Police Involvement:

    • If required, the police will lead the investigation, and staff will fully cooperate. ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

    • Social Services may get involved if there are child protection concerns. ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿšจ

  4. Regulatory Reporting:

    • The incident will be reported under RIDDOR guidelines. ๐Ÿ“š

    • It will also be recorded in the Incident Book. ๐Ÿ“˜โœ๏ธ

    • The Local Authority Health and Safety Officer may investigate further and decide on any prosecution. โš–๏ธ

    • Ofsted will be informed of the incident. ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ“จ
